Discovering Bloor West Village, Part 6/7

If you're planning a picnic, barbeque, casual party, or even a gourmet event, Max's Market in Bloor West Village is a good bet for some pre-made snacks, appetizers, and entrees that will beat the pants off your usual chips 'n' dip.

It's not cheap, but if you'd rather spring for it then slave away in your sweaty kitchen, Max's will deliver. Their homemade guacamole and salsas alone are worth a visit, especially since free samples are always on the menu! The expansive deli counter also showcases plenty of fresh salads, and there's pastries galore to really get you salivating.

The slight Eastern-European influence on the food (latkes, perogies, and some lesser known delights) reflects the culture of the neighborhood.

Shopping here is hard on the bank, though - especially if you also load up on fancy organic chips, specialty sauces, chocolate, cheeses, and the like. Nonetheless, if you're in the mood for some gourmet eats that will wow your friends without much effort, this cozy (okay, cramped) little market will surely satisfy.
