Santé: The Bloor Yorkville Wine Festival

"Wine is bottled poetry," observed the sage Robert Louis Stevenson once upon a time.

The man speaks the truth.

With this in mind (and a wine glass in hand!), be sure to check out SantĂŠ: The Bloor-Yorkville Wine Festival which kicks off on Wednesday. The festival features tastings, seminars, sip & shop events and special menus - with wine pairings, of course - at many of Toronto's top restaurants.

Hemispheres' offerings this year, in particular, has got my attention, for both its menu and its value. A mere $55 fetches a four-course meal with wine pairings. A sneak peek at what's being offered? Certainly. Sparkling wine shall accompany an oyster trilogy. A potential partner for white wine? What say you to sea scallop with Quebec foie gras Rossini. Or would you prefer red snapper ceviche? Or perhaps rabbit rillet with Woolwich goat cheese tickles your fancy instead?

To be sure, there are many other restaurants participating in the Sip, Savour and Dine component of the festival, which takes place on May 2, 3 and 6. In addition, the LCBO is also offering several specialty seminars and wine education events.

Woo-(hiccup!)-haw.

What: SantĂŠ: The Bloor-Yorkville Wine Festival
