When it comes to food, this city has a lot to tweet about. Between chefs, food writers, butchers, bakers, cheesemongers and the average food nerd, the Toronto food scene on Twitter is as indulgent and satisfying as a good dose of street meet. On this first #followfriday of 2010, here is a round up of 10 of my favourite Toronto food tweeples.

Sanagan's Meat Locker (@sanagans)
Replacing the 50+ year butcher shop staple Max & Son was no small task, but Peter Sanagan hit the streets of Kensington running when he opened his new shop this past November. With a devout foodie following founded on Twitter, Sanagan's is a must for the discerning omnivore.

Fiesta Farms (@fiestafarms)
Manned by renegade food writer and cook Ivy Knight (@ivyknight), Fiesta Farms' entertaining tweets encompass what's new, local noshes in store, their blog, recipes, and general food happenings in the city.

Bar Volo (@BarVolo)
For those who love beer. Volo is a brewhead's bar, and they take their beer selection pretty seriously. There is always something to scratch my hoppsy itch, new beers or cask ales on tap, events and happenings in the Toronto beer community.

Corey Mintz (@coreymintz)
You may know Corey Mintz from his food writing for the Toronto Star. But you'd know him a lot better if you followed him on Twitter. He entertains his readership with witty tweets on how he fills his mouth, mind and time.

Pizza Libretto (@PizzaLibretto)
The folks at Libretto never fail to get my juices flowing. With daily twitpics of rustic Italian inspired dishes including pastas, piadina, meats and of course pizza it's fun to follow what's coming out of their kitchen.

The Black Hoof (@TheBlackHoof)
Undoubtedly the current golden child of the Toronto food scene, The Black Hoof's tweets from owners Grant Van Gameren and Jen Agg are frequent enough to keep me interested but not too frequent to overwhelm. I like to keep up with the specials, what cocktails are being mixed, and how hung over the cooks are during brunch service.

If the Black Hoof is our golden child, then Caplansky's is our little old bubbie from Montreal. Follow owner Zane Caplansky on Twitter to find out which celebs are dropping by the deli, what he's eating and at what ungodly hour of the morning he is cleaning out the smoker.

We all know that good things grow in Ontario. And while not entirely Toronto focused, the Foodland tweeters are a good source for locavores to find out what's fresh, get recipes for seasonal cooking, and keep up with happenings on the Ontario farm scene.

Monforte Dairy (@Monforte Dairy)
I definitely have a soft spot for cheese, with particular fondness for the Canadian variety. With an innovative CSA-inspired program for building a brand new cheesemaking facility in Stratford (and a new foray into cow's milk cheeses), Ruth Klahsen is paving the way for a new generation of Canadian cheese.
