Oktoberfest may not receive the type of attention in Toronto that something like, say, St. Patrick's Day does, but there's still a number of ways to get out and show some Bavarian spirit this fall. Or, to put that differently, those looking to do the Schuhplattler after consuming a few steins of beer and some bratwurste, will not be disappointed.

• School Restaurant in Liberty Village is hosting the first Annual Beck's T.O.ktoberfest celebration this year on October 1st and 2nd (what better way to start your Nuit Blanche?). Running between 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 a.m. on Saturday and 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, the event promises traditional German food and beer and lots of live entertainment. More details here.

• There's also still time to catch WVRST's Oktoberfest celebrations, in which the German-inspired restaurant has offered up a variety of beers of both local and German origin. The closing ceremonies, hosted by Weihenstephan (which claims the title of oldest brewery in the world) and featuring go down tomorrow. And even if you miss out on the formal Oktoberfest celebrations here, a regular visit for will probably do the trick.

• Those looking for something with a bit larger scale will have want to head out to Kitchener-Waterloo, where the world's second biggest Oktoberfest / Bavarian festival has taken place since 1969. It's a seven day affair between October 7th and 15th featuring 40 different events and thousands of participants. It's gotten more and more commercial over the years (hello Molson), but it's as authentic a celebration you're going to find short of a flight to Munich.

• Lastly, if you'd prefer to do your own Oktoberfest, the LCBO has done a small Oktoberfest beer release, which features Garrison Oktoberfest Brau, Samuel Adams Octoberfest and Paulaner Oktoberfest (with a stein).
