5 indie cafe t-shirts as modelled by their baristas
Toronto's indie cafes are jumping on the proprietary t-shirt bandwagon, and their designs often reveal a lot about the character of the cafe. One of Mercury's t-shirts shows the blueprint for the sign outside, while Dark Horse's latest T-shirt design transforms its previous, almost aviation-inspired print into a marquee. Each of the below are either cotton, or cotton-blend, typically come in black, grey, white (or Crema's hot pink), and are usually locally designed and printed. We had the baristas from five of Toronto's most popular independent cafes model their store's t-shirts, with the simple instruction to be yourself. This is what happened:
Capital Espresso, $20
Modelled by owner and veteran barista, Damien Zielinski (see top photo)
Mascot, an even $20 with tax
Modelled by Tyrone, barista for a year
Dark Horse Espresso Bar, $25
Modelled by Jalil, barista for about a year
Mercury Espresso Bar, from $15 to $20
Modelled by 9-years-in-the-biz barista Adam Malachowski
Crema Coffee Co., $24.95
