5 places to eat a lobster dinner in Toronto
Lobster is all the rage these days, it seems. It's been widely reported how cheap lobster prices are these days, which has prompted some local restaurants to suddenly add lobster to their menu or even create entire events around lobster. In the mood for some butter-dipped crustacean?
Here are 5 places in Toronto you can get your lobster on (if only for a limited time).
LobstahPalooza 2012
It's much as it sounds--current seafood darlings Rock Lobster Food Co. are bringing you a 1.5lb market-fresh lobster, with summer party staples such as corn on the cob and potato salad, all for the fair price of $50. This cost includes a "drink passport," consisting of three drink samples from the event's libation partners--think Tromba tequila, Kensington Ale, and Hob Nob chardonnay, among others. The pop-up restaurant's famous lobster rolls will also be available, although sold exclusively, and the whole shebang goes down on August 19 (1pm-6pm), on 99 Sudbury's outdoor patio (yes, there will be DJs).
Sunday Lobster Fare at the Drake Hotel
Ever the purveyors of culinary delights, The Drake Hotel is bringing you a prix-fixe feast, every Sunday beginning at 7 pm. For the low price of $32, you get one pound of lobster, grilled corn, potatoes, coleslaw, as well as a biscuit, a shortcake dessert, and a bottle of Keith's. You'll also have access to specially-priced wines, and the whole thing goes down on their Sky Yard (by reservation only).
Lobster and Oyster Mondays at Cube Nightclub
We haven't forgotten ye fans of the bivalve, and neither has Cube Nightclub. Every Monday beginning at 5 pm, you can enjoy $19 whole lobsters and buck a shuck oysters. There's also a tapas menu available, and as usual with Cube, there's an age restriction and dress code in effect. If you're so inclined, bottle service is also available--hey, might as well live large.
Lobster roll Wednesdays at the One That Got Away
The One that Got Away seemingly effortlessly anticipates my seafood cravings, and they also know that humpday is instantly improved by the presence of lobster rolls. Every Wednesday, you can enjoy fresh lobster atop a garlic butter-coated bun with fries ($15.99) or salad ($16.99).
Mariposa's Lobsterfest Dinner Cruises
I know what you're thinking--a cruise? How lame. But there's something to be said for enjoying creatures from the sea while coasting along it. Held aboard the Northern Spirit, Lobsterfest will be held on August 11 (7pm) and for $100, you can enjoy a serving of lobster and various buffet options such as coleslaw, potato salad, and a selection of desserts.
