After 25 years in business, it looks like Queen East's long-running Schnitzel Queen restaurant is being financially battered (and breaded ... and deep-fried). The local cheap-eat standby claims it will soon be forced out of its longtime home at 237 Queen St. East, thanks to incoming condo development in the area. Karl Hubsch, who took over the business in 2012, has just launched a Kickstarter campaign seeking to raise $50,000 in an attempt to find the restaurant a new home in the area.

"In order for the Schnitzel Queen to survive as a brand, we need the money to help fund a new operation within walking distance of its current location. The Corktown / St. Lawrence Market district of Toronto is ideal and gives us many possible locations to start up shop," Hubsch writes. The campaign runs until November 25, and so far has raised just $1,780; head over to Kickstarter to find additional details and more "schnit" puns than you can shake a flat, breaded pork cutlet at.
