Soft serve ice cream in Toronto is like holding a handheld beacon of summer. No matter what your flavour preference, there are so many options in the city you can get everything from the basic vanilla kind to the most ridiculously decked out cones.

Tom's Dairy Freeze

This soft serve institution is as classic as it gets. Opening the windows of its takeout station every spring in Etobicoke, Tom’s has been making their minimally decorated soft serve from real cream since 1969.

iHalo Krunch

With High Park and West Queen West locations this ice cream shop has been on a nonstop roll since it first brought its black ice cream to the city. 

La Diperie

A brand that keeps it simple, this ice creamery with multiple Toronto locations only has one kind of soft serve: the vanilla kind. Then follow the dips, which come in flavours like chocolate and chilli chocolate, followed by toppings like cookie crumble.

Eva's Original Chimneys

The expertly rolled chimney cones at this Annex bakery are baked on Slovenian ovens before being filled with towers of sweet fillings, icing and toppings like s’mores or brownies.

Now that it's summer, the narrow corridor of this patisserie by Dundas and Bay offers soft serve in a variety of unique flavours, poured into waffle cones baked fresh in-house. 

Tsujiri Toronto

These matcha specialists with locations in Little Tokyo and in North York on Yonge Street offer their special stone-ground green tea soft serve in a variety of combos. Grab a sundae or float to satisfy those your matcha cravings.

The Corktown spot is goes beyond beautiful and tasty baked treats. Their Earl Grey soft serve is something that should be not missed out on this summer.

Saryo

The Tokyo transplant is serving up some truly mind-blowing desserts and beverages in their shared Konjiki Ramen restaurant space in North York. One thing you cannot pass up on is their hojicha and matcha soft serve. Get them on their own or mixed into sundaes.

Bar Ape

The walk-up ice cream stand near St. Clair West always sports a long line as soon as the temperatures heat up. However, one taste of their soft serve in flavours like fresh mint and Ontario apricot you'll realize it's worth the wait.

The Yorkville location of this popular spot has added soft serve to their menu of goodies for the summer. Order it up in flavours vanilla, chocolate or twist. If you're looking for something more elevated ask about their sundaes.

The Fix Ice Cream Bar

If you're hankering for some soft serve when you're near the Harbourfront look no further than this sister project to Joe Bird. On their menu of frozen goodies you'll find soft serve in flavours like Chocolate Overdose.

Cereal Box Cafe

The spot in Chinatown takes your favourite cereals and tranforms them into epic ice cream creations. Cinnamon Toast Crunch, Fruity Pebbels and Fruit Loops are all options.

You can find this Japanese takeout stand serving up desserts like hojicha and matcha soft serve ice cream sundaes inside C&C Supermarket in Don Mills. 

Nani's Gelato

The popular spot near Yonge & Bloor goes beyond gelato scoops. The shop is also dishing out soft serve in flavours like Nutella, mango lassi and pistachio.

Vilda's

The takeout spot on Dovercourt is headed by the same people behind Bernhardts and just like the sitdown restaurant this bodega-style sandwich shop is churning out epic ice cream sundaes that will not disappoint.
