New Toronto eatery does create your own seafood boils
Toronto got a new seafood restaurant last week after The Captain's Boil opened up its inaugural location at 5313 Yonge Street in North York.
This no-frills eatery serves up create-your-own boiled seafood combinations and offers neither cutlery or plates - you have to eat everything with your hands. Although, as local food blogger Stenoodie notes, the restaurant does provide disposable gloves if you want to keep your hands clean(ish). You can also wear a nautical-themed bib.
Since The Captain's Boil website is currently under construction, Stenoodie kindly provides her readers with a menu. You can expect numerous options including king crab ($34.95/pound), shrimp ($11.95/pound) and lobster (28.95/pound). To accompany your seafood, you can order sides such as corn, Cajun fries and chicken tenders.
Each order of seafood comes served in a plastic bag with your choice of Cajun, lemon pepper or garlic garlic sauce (or all three for the Captain's Boil special). You can also choose your level of spice.
This new Toronto spot is a clear homage to seafood boils from the American south, but as The Captain Boil's Instagram says, it also incorporates Asian-inspired flavours.
