Chef Morimoto scraps plans to open Toronto restaurant

Chef Masaharu Morimoto won't open a Toronto restaurant after all, reports Post City Toronto today.

The Iron Chef was supposed to set up shop in the still-under-construction 47-storey condo, which is located right beside the Royal Alexandra Theatre at 224 King Street West.

However, in a statement to Post City, INK Entertainment spokesperson Elaine Quan wrote, "Due to the many building delays, it has impacted our deal for the Morimoto Restaurant which had specific deadlines that needed to be met. We will not be moving forward with that project."

"However, INK Entertainment still has leasing rights for the location at Theatre Park and we will have exciting new information to share in the new year."

If you're still looking for Iron Chef cuisine, your best bets would be to head to Rob Feenie's newly opened Cactus Club Cafe or Susur Lee' King West restaurant, Lee.

Are you disappointed Chef Morimoto won't be coming to Toronto? Let us know in the comments.
