Le Papillon on the Park shuts down

Le Papillon on the Park, a restaurant known for its French and French Canadian fare, has shut its doors for good. The Leslieville-area eatery has been embroiled in controversy since 2011 when three former employees accused Papillon's owners of discrimination.

They filed a complaint with the Human Rights Tribunal of Ontario (HRTO) and received nearly $100,000 in compensation. The HRTO wrote in its 80-page decision, as the Toronto Star reports, that Papillon's owners "made the workplace intolerable for each of the applicants."

The owners deny all allegations against them.

Le Papillon on the Park announced its closure on its Facebook page and posted a note on its website saying, "our restaurant is closed due to circumstances beyond our control."
