Italian food lovers will be happy to note that the world's preeminent supermarket-restaurant hybrid is finally on its ways to Toronto. Yes, our city will be home to an Eataly by some time next year, reports the Globe and Mail today.

Eataly is partnering with the Weston family for its first venture into Canada. According to the Globe, Eataly's co-founder and chairman Oscar Farinetti confirmed his company would be opening up in the central Toronto-area. Neither company would confirm an exact address for this incoming Italian food haven.

The Globe previously wrote that the Weston family had been scouting potential locations for a Toronto Eataly. At the time, they seemed to be looking to bring it to Yorkville, likely near Holt Renfrew, which they also own.

The first Eataly opened in Turin in 2007, and the company has since expanded to countries around the world, including to the United States, Japan and Turkey.

The market-style stores are packed with fresh, specialty products, such as cheese, meat and baked goods as well as a slew of Italian groceries. Each outpost also has at least one (and up to 11) in-store sit-down restaurants.
