It's a match made in foodie heaven. Popular Taiwanese bubble tea chain Chatime and Me.n.u food truck are joining forces to open Pokito, a new poke and sushi burrito restaurant - and yes, pokito is a portmanteau of the new concept's two main menu items.

The poke and sushi burrito trends might soon be overplayed, but Pokito hopes to differentiate itself with fresh fish and unique flavour combinations. Before firming up their plans, the team took a research trip out to San Diego and even attended a poke festival, so maybe we'll see some SoCal influences on the menu.

The partnership between Me.n.u and Chatime came together after the food truck started doing service near Chatime's location near Yonge and Finch. The Me.n.u staff were always fans so decided to drop some food off at the bubble tea shop, and later, Chatime reciprocated and brought drinks out to the food truck.

Representative from each business kept running into each other at events such as Night It Up! and eventually Me.n.u started supplying Chatime with Taiwanese popcorn chicken and mini fried riceballs for their ChatimeBites menu.

Now, the teams expect to have Pokito open at 420 Queen St. West by mid August. Both businesses induce lineups wherever they go, so hopefully they'll work well together.
