Toronto ramen restaurant has permanently closed and it's already been replaced
A Toronto restaurant serving ramen has closed down and it's already been replaced by something else.
Fortunately for Japanese food lovers, it's still cuisine from that country.
Hakata Shoryuken Ramen on Queen West has been transformed into Ara Japanese.
The previous restaurant was known for its noodle soup, and this new restaurant now serves sushi, cocktails and Teishoku (a kind of Japanese set meal). Ara opened in the old Hakata space on Oct. 27.
Ara manager Steve Kang tells blogTO they don't know an exact last day for Hakata, but that the restaurant closed around summer 2021.
The closure of a North York location of Hakata Shoryuken had been announced on Aug. 31, 2020.
At the time, many people commented on the closure announcement on social media, saying they were sad to see the restaurant go and would continue to support the downtown location.
Their social media has effectively gone dark, their last post in summer and the previous post before that made in fall 2020. Their website is still operational but makes no mention of any closures.
