The biggest tea festival in Canada is about to warm Toronto up
The Toronto Tea Festival — the biggest of its kind in Canada — is back to warm you up this winter.
Most can agree that the best time to enjoy a hot cup of tea is in the cold, dark depths of winter, and the Toronto Tea Festival is here to take that tea to the next level at the end of January.
Celebrating their 10th year running, the festival takes place in the Appel Salon at the Toronto Reference Library and features a ton of events perfect for tea aficionados and casual sippers alike.
The main event of the festival is the Tea Tasters Box Challenge, described as the "People's Choice Award" of tea. Volunteer tasters can sample a selection of teas from different categories like oolong, herbal, and — new to the festival this year — matcha, crowning the best in each category.
The festival doesn't stop there, though. There will be a number of talks by tea experts and professionals, Chinese and Japanese tea ceremonies, and vendors where you can purchase teas and all the gear needed to prepare the perfect cup.
The event runs from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 27 and Sunday, Jan. 28. Tickets are priced at $17 for a single day or $26 for a two-day pass, and can be purchased through the festival's website.
