Toronto is getting a month long pizza festival similar to Summerlicious

Pizza lovers in Toronto are about to have a whole month devoted to getting their fill of piping hot pies from a number of the city's local pizza shops.

There are so many foods we regularly associate with October, from the turkey and pumpkin pie of Thanksgiving to the pint-sized candy bars you swore were for Trick-or-Treaters but, nevertheless, ended up in your own hands.

Toronto-based food blogger, Emilee (@munchjeeez), alongside Bloorcourt's Ambassador Pizza Co., however, are on a mission to make October all about pizza, with the inaugural year of their new event, Pizzalicious.

Drawing inspiration from other annual '-licious' events (Summerlicious, Winterlicious) the event will take place at pizzerias across the city for the entire month of October, giving you a chance to pick up discounted pies, fixed price combos and brand new creations from a host of Toronto's tastiest pizza places.

Though, according to Emilee, more restaurants are signing on to the event by the day, they've already got a considerable dream team confirmed for the event, including Levant Pizza, Cici's Pizza, Big Trouble Pizza, Marks Pizza and Slowsouth.

The inspiration for the event, Emilee tells blogTO, came from a perceived need to lift up the city's local pizza parlours, who, she says, are "often overlooked due to the convenience of larger chains and franchises that are taking over, block by block."

"We came up with this idea of Pizzalicious as a way to show other small shops that if we work together, our voices can have the power to get the attention of our local communities," she says.

While specific deals and offerings will vary from shop to shop, you can keep up with the latest news by following participating pizzerias and Ambassador Pizza Co. on social media.
