Two unassociated events are taking place tomorrow on the Island, a sand dune tree planting at Hanlan's Point (organized by the Toronto Bay Initiative) and a Capture The Flag On Bikes game being organized by the new Facebook-based group Fun Toronto.

Though the events aren't officially affiliated with one another, they do fit together into a neat little package for anyone interested in checking both out, as taking part in the tree planting (registration required) will get you a free return trip ferry ride.

Not going to be able to make it to the island? A list of other tree plantings taking place around town is included after the jump.

If you shoot an e-mail to TBI at info@torontobay.net or give them a call at 416.598.2277 and tell them your name(s) and which event you're interested in, you can register for the tree planting and be granted a free ferry ride to and from the island (though the ferry return trip has a price listed on the TBI event listing, this is apparently an error).

You'll then have to meet up at the ferry terminal gates by 10 a.m. to catch the ride to the island. The tree planting event runs until 1 p.m. At 1:30, assemble at the Garden Maze with your bike (you did remember your bike, right?) for the Capture The Flag game, which is set to run until approximately 6:00.

Whether you take part in Capture The Flag or not, you're left to enjoy the rest of your day after the tree planting however you see fit, and can catch the ferry back at your leisure. If you don't know your way around, here's a PDF map of Toronto Island.

Lastly, if you're not able to take part in this one, there are other tree planting events taking place around the city this weekend:
- Trees For Life Canada will be distributing tree seeds and seedlings for free during a BBQ event taking place at the Beaconsfield from 1 to 4 p.m. on Saturday.
- A South Mimico planting event is being held Saturday from 10 a.m. to noon at Tom Riley Park, just north of Islington subway station.
- East Don Parkland Partners are organizing a tree planting in Cummer Park (East Don Parkland) from 10 a.m. to noon. Meet at the bridge crossing the Don River halfway between Bayview and Leslie to take part.
- Instead, if you're going to be off the west end of the city on the 21st, there's another planting taking place at U of T Mississauga from 9 a.m. to noon.
- Friends of the Don East are planting trees at Willowfield Gardens from 10 am to noon, directions are available here.
- Toronto's largest Earth Day celebration is going to be taking place at Downsview Park on Sunday, the 22nd, from noon to 4 p.m. with 1,000 new trees expected to end up in the ground there.
