Once Upon A Commute
Photographers out there (i.e. people with cameras) still have a chance to enter a commuter-themed photo contest that closes at the end of the month. It's being jointly run by Smart Commute Toronto (a great alternative transportation organization set up by the City) and Spacing Magazine.
Submissions of 3-5 photos based on a commuting theme are being called for as a way of promoting different transportation options. Sponsors include VIA Rail and Bike Train, hence the two prizes being offered:
Grand Prize
- publication in Spacing and a nice inclusive weekend getaway to the National Gallery in Ottawa
Runner Up
- round trip tickets for Bike Train's Greenbelt Express service from Toronto's Union Station to Niagara Falls Station.
For more information you can download the contest details.
I've written before about Smart Commute's surprisingly good carpooling tool which is the kind of tool that only works well once a certain threshold of users is reached. So hopefully publicity gained from a contest like this can give them some more momentum.
So get out your cameras as the weather turns in our favor and more cyclists are riding to work in Toronto!
