So Hip It Hurts is one of the oldest skate shops in Toronto. They first opened their doors in 1991 back when skate culture wasn't as big as it is today. They were the go-to place in the city for decks, clothing and all sorts of skateboard gear, but have broadened their offerings over the years to cater to a more diverse clientele.

The second floor shop on Queen West has four rooms packed with a ton of merchandise - there are shoes and watches ($150 to $2,500) in two separate rooms, a women's clothing room and another area full of clothing ($35 to $90) from brands like Roark and Obey.

At the very back, a large assortment of skateboards, cruisers and longboards are on display. Their stock also has a lot of snowboard-related gear.

Skate decks ($40 to $140) range from their in-house brand to Birdhouse, Toy Machine, Plan B, Element, Tired and Powell Peralta. Prices for hardware ($5 to $7) for tuning is reasonable and safety gear like elbow/knee pads and helmets are affordable as well ($35 to $59). Trucks and wheels ($30 to $65) are also available.

Longboard and cruiser completes ($180 to $350) from Landyatchz, Loaded, Globe, Penny and Z-Flex are available as well as decks ($85 to $270).

Footwear ($55 to $159) from Adidas, Lakai, Vans, Supra and Nike can get pricey depending on what you're going for.

So Hip It Hurts is involved with organizations and events like Evolve Skate Camp in training and teaching skateboard beginners as well as helping out with the annual Go Skate Day.
