LFW Fall 2007: Izzy Camilleri

Izzy Camilleri was my favourite show from Spring 2007 and I was totally hyped to see the fall collection. I decided to sit beside Tiff from Toronto Street Fashion as she was in the 2nd row on the opposite side of the runway. The 2nd row is awesome, it's elevated and you get a good vantage point for seeing the clothing.

LiquidLux, the Fall 2007 collection, was inspired by 80s rock and roll but using modern silhouettes. This Izzy quote stuck vividly in my mind as they removed the brown paper from the jet-black Plexiglas runway. "I'm inspired by the 80s flirtation with patent leather and glossy finished. I wanted to incorporate a rock and roll edginess and still follow the silhouette of the body." I'm looking forward to a great show.

Izzy's trademark black door, adorned with the label logo, separates the backstage from the runway. The music starts and it opens to reveal a dark silhouette with an umbrella. The marvelous black patent trench coat reveals itself to the crowd. The model strikers her best pose and the end of the runway. Tiff and I are freaking.

LiquidLux featured leather, wool, patent, taffeta and sequins. Izzy is known for her fur (Devil's Wears Prada) and didn't disappoint her fans. Mink and raccoon were in bubble and trapeze style coats. Fur used for detailing was Grey Fox.

Generally, I would say that I hate fur; however, the "Izzy Effect" nullifies those feelings. The "Izzy Effect" is the spontaneous reversal of negative feelings towards wearing fur and leather produced by Izzy Camilleri. I've seen it work on many different types of people, even vegetarians.

I fawned over patent leather trenches, capes, crocodile print jackets and lamb leather dresses. The most perfect high waisted lamb leather cropped pants was among my standout pieces of the night. Other favourites included the bubble leather series. The leather is raised and quilted producing a bubble effect. This was incorporated into bomber jackets and trench coats.

A copper sequin kite dress came down the runway, of course, Tiff and I freaked. It was a vision of leg, sequins and bat wings; a killer combination. The rest of the sequin series is equally as fun. I recorded a video clip of this sequence.

The show was expertly styled by Peter Papapetrou, Marilisa Sears, Marc Anthony International (hair) and Jackie Shawn, Plutino Group (makeup). Models sported high-set, long ponytails with long bangs and Egyptian inspired eye makeup. Black patent booties with crystal-incrusted stilettos perfected the hard, strong and sexy look.
