Toronto Week of Style

The Toronto Week of Style rolls into town for four days starting Wednesday, May 23. It was created to add another level of support for up and coming talent in the style industry focusing both locally and internationally. This is a consumer-focused event which explains its strange positioning on the fashion calendar. It's much too late to be talking Spring 2007 to any industry types.

Fashion fans will be treated to six free fashion shows over four days. With the exception of the Docks, the event spaces are beautiful. The Arcadian Court hosts the first event of the week, Bambumoda. The show's concept is to feature the biggest movements in style for the next years through designer offerings from Lifetime Clothing, Mehnaz, Artful Dodger, Obey and Mooks.

Fashion Fringe looks to find the hottest undiscovered design talent in Canada. It's a Canadian take on the wildly successful event that takes place during London Fashion Week. The final judging and showcasing will take place at the Berkeley Church Theatre on Thursday. It's a 2 for 1 night and following Fashion Fringe is the Art of Denim show. Five denim lines, including Canada's own Fidelity Jeans, will be featured.

Friday is TnA night at the Week of Style and revelers will be treated to two shows. Sweet Escape will feature swimwear and Lust and Seduction does lingerie from Kenan and Third Floor design. Both these events take place in the Ontario Heritage Centre.

Sparkle! closes out the Week of Style on Saturday at the Docks Entertainment Complex. Inspired by VH1's Fashion Rocks events, Sparkle! will feature both music and fashion. The designer details aren't available at post time but musical guests include Ray Robinson, Point Blank, Page, Daetona, Untitled, Marcus Voyce and Cory Lee.

All events are free including the after parties all you have to do is RSVP on the Week of Style website. Look for my updates on the events later this week.
