Project Runway Canada contestants announced

Today after a long summer of speculation, we finally find out who is going to be in (or out) of Project Runway. Featuring a selection of the unknown and the up-and-coming, the Toronto contingent is well represented, as we suspected.

So who are our five hometown heroes?

Kendra Francis of Franke, designer and former proprietor of her own boutique on Queen Street West.

Michael Hartley of Jason Meyers, whose frocks hang on Canada's most directional racks at Boutique Le Trou.

Lucian Matis, Canada's own enfant terrible, he of the heirophant bride encrusted in red crystals.

Shernett Swaby of Swaby, surprised me from right under my nose - I walk by her boutique almost daily through a most unfashionable stretch of Queen Street East, and yet despite a strong curiousity, I've never stopped in. One look at the designs on her website, in addition to her tenacious choice of real estate, leads me to suspect she may be the dark horse of this competition.

Stephen Wong of Greta Constantine, former costumer of made in Toronto movies like Chicago and Glitter who now offers yet more choice of "effortless clothes for the chic modern woman".
