The Selby

The Selby blog

Acclaimed photographer, illustrator, and master decor documentarian Todd Selby of TheSelby.com was all up in our place on Tuesday night for the launch of his new book, "The Selby Is In Your Place," at Parts & Labour (which is, apparently, the only place in town for a sartorial soiree these days).

Swathed in a kitten-covered t-shirt and sporting his usual chic specs, Selby was very friendly, and mingled with Toronto's finest fashion folks (he loves Canada, according to his Canuck-themed illustration for the gathering, because "everyone is nice, good food, clean air, and beautiful nature everywhere.")

The Selby

Holt Renfrew hosted the party, which included Selby's trademark handwritten questionnaire plastered on posterboard on the wall for partygoers to pen their answers upon. Questions included "what's the sexiest thing about Canada" (answer: "me on my bike in pumps" or "Richard Lambert"), and a call for peeps to "design a new flag for Canada which references your personal experiences of living in Canada."

Another wall was wallpapered with the patinaed pages of his book. "I think," says Selby, "I'm going to give those to my mom!"
