NADA

Has NADA just created the ultimate blue dress?

Let's start with those blue dresses, people. NADA was the final designer to show at the Brick Works last Thursday (see previous posts for Joeffer Coac and DIMITRICHRIS's collections), and she ended the show and her collection with a handful of drop-dead gorgeous royal-blue column dresses. They were some of my favourite pieces that I've seen on the Canadian runway in a long time - both elegant and eye-popping, and ever-so-memorable.

The rest of the collection was also excellent; I especially liked the patterns and fabrics, including the paintsplash-patterned batik-style linen, discotastic ice-blue polyester (which showed up in maxi-dresses and leggings), coral jersey (which made for a stunning cape), and rich black wool (I'd love one of these sleeveless pleated jumpsuits, please), and an abstract sixties-like Miro-style jaquard (jacket and super-cute matching shorts).

And then came those beautiful blue dresses. I couldn't stop thinking about those four gowns, each with a sexy detail--a draped sleeve, the backless one with a slight gather at the shoulder, the deep v-neck and ruched short sleeves...

NADA 2011

Last fall, I said I was in love with NADA and hoped that the love affair would last for many seasons to come. After a short break-up last season, we're back on, and baby, it feels so good.
