Toronto Gift Guide: Wooden skate guards
It's day number twelve of my quest to find some of the best gifts in Toronto. Today's Pick: Off Cut Studio wooden skate guards. Some of my best childhood memories include frozen toes, hot chocolate and the sound of metal cutting across ice. I haven't done much skating since moving to Toronto because truth is, I suspect it might never live up to winters on the Rideau Canal. But maybe this year I'll give Nathan Phillips Square a whirl. Not without these amazing wooden skate guards, though. They might be the best things to happen to ice skating since the Beaver Tail.
Furniture designer Cameron Maclean fashions the guards (in any size) from off-cut woods in his Toronto studio. The best part? They attach to blades with rare earth magnets or an adorably retro leather strap.
Additional Specs: adult and children's sizes available
