Greta Constantine SKIN capsule collection with Danier

Another day, another collabo — finally there's one we can actually get excited about. The Greta Constantine boys have teamed up with Canadian leather giant Danier for SKIN, a capsule collection of leather pieces that will be sold at 20 stores across the country and on Danier's website come August.

I ducked out of the rainpocalypse into Parkdale's Neubacher Shor Contemporary space for a preview this week, complete beef patties and supple leather goods.

Man, that's soft.

The duo have created a handful of exquisite coats (plus unexpected pieces like a blood-red dress with a twist at the neck, and a sleeveless bolero) that are way covetable, from the kimono-like piece cinched with an eighties-influenced obi to a dove-grey suede number featuring fold upon fold of the duo's signature draping.

"We had to think of how to guarantee our pieces remain accessible to different body types without compromising on the aesthetic," says co-designer Kirk Pickersgill. "In that way, a thirty-something girl-about-town in Yorkville can wear the pieces with the same ease as a mother in Vancouver or a first-year university student."

While he and co-designer Stephen Wong have become famous on their beloved jersey pieces, it was exciting to try leather and suede for a change, according to Pickersgill: "We love how leather is so much more than simply an outer layer fabric, a commonly held belief. It can be manipulated and treated in a variety of techniques, from washed to dyed. In reality, the possibilities are endless--there's a depth to leather, especially when draped, that knits and jerseys simply don't have."
