The top 5 new barber shops in Toronto for 2016
The top new barber shops in Toronto feature an adventurous gang of scissor slingers. Some are off-shoots of trusted favourites, and others are brand new businesses with fresh takes on the world of hair.
Here are my picks for the top new barber shops in Toronto.
Like a mirage on Harbord Street, this slick barber shop bucks the recent trend of mancaves with light-filled room that lives up to the shop's name. The four-chair space also features a pool table, but it's the clean lines and bright aesthetic that standout. Co-owner Peter Gosling trained for years with some of the city's finest, so you're in good hands.
The men's clothing shop in Parkdale recently ventured into the world of grooming with a barber shop. Dustin Granofsky of Garrison Barbershop fame has opened a spot inside the store and he and two female barbers are cleaning up heads while others shop. Make sure to book in advance.
The Kensington Market staple opened a one-chair barber shop in the back of the new Drake General Store this year. With a rotating cast of Crow's Nest barbers, it's like stepping into your grandpa's fave shop and getting an old-school, quality cut and shave.
This mini barber shop chain opened a third location this year on Danforth East. The new spot has a retro vibe and features exposed brick walls, large wooden beams and a mural that proclaims "Look better, feel better."
Already a big hit in the Junction, this gentlemen's grooming club can now also be found in Parkdale at 1612 Queen Street West. It's the kind of barber shop your dad or grandpa would be completely comfortable in with lots of vintage kitsch, and a bar space at the back.
