City Playgrounds Documentary

What happens when you mix Toronto's ubran landscape with games of tag, pillow fights, subway parties and a video camera? You get the City Playgrounds documentary showcase this Thursday at the NFB.

The bulk of the event is actually set north of Toronto in Uxbridge, where a group of teens go on missions where the goal is the "eccentrification of the world", or at least their bland suburban environment. The doc is called The Winking Circle Video Zine, and promises unique urban art, wacky stunts, and unbridled artistic self-expression.

Second up is Into A NewMindSpace, which follows our beloved Kevin Bracken & Lori Kufner, leaders of one of Toronto's most prolific urban game and party crews. Their subway parties and capture the flag games are legendary.

Last up, is probably the document I'm most interested in seeing. Personal Space is a documentary on Manhunt, which is undoubtedly the most insane game of tag I've ever seen, played by a bunch of adrenalin junkie Toronto teens and 20-somethings. I'm very curious to see how well this is captured in film.

7pm - Bloor Cinema - $9
