Would you pay $50 to see Kevin Smith's latest film?

Kevin Smith is screening his new film, Red State, next Monday at the Toronto Underground Cinema. Tickets start at $50 and go up to $85 for VIP seating and a DVP copy of the film. Would you pay $50? Your answer won't matter to Smith as the screening sold out - all 679 tickets (an estimate based on the cinema's seating capacity) - about a week after they went on sale.

Kevin Smith has made some bad films (and some good ones but many would argue the trend has been downward). But he also has his legions of fans and for those who have seen him speak before they say he's worth the price of admission. And Red State, as it turns out, has buzz. It premiered at Sundance to mixed reviews after which Smith himself picked up the distribution rights and has been taking the film on a North American tour.
