Movie star Anna Kendrick got stuck in a Toronto elevator and needed to be rescued
If you're an Anna Kendrick fan who was hoping to catch a glimpse of the actress out and about in Toronto on Sunday before she walked the red carpet at her TIFF premiere, you were almost surely out of luck — but rest assured, she had a very good reason for not being around Festival Street.
In the hours leading up to the world's first showing of Alice, Darling — a thriller in which Kendrick stars as the titular character — the celeb and six members of her team found themselves in a bit of a pickle thanks to a malfunctioning elevator.
While heading out from 225 Richmond Street West yesterday afternoon, the group got trapped in their elevator somewhere around the fifth floor.
"Ah, the classic 'I'm behind schedule at this film festival because I had to be rescued from an elevator,' excuse #TIFF22," Kendrick wrote to her tens of millions of followers on Twitter and Instagram, along with a video of the ordeal.

In the montage of cramped elevator clips, Kendrick jokes about having to ration the group's food supply (a pack of gum), about "just vibing" and loving the experience, and about being glad that she wore a long dress for climbing out when Toronto Fire eventually came to the rescue.
"This is why I shouldn't leave the house without at least like, a little airplane-sized bottle [of booze] because you never know when you're going to get stuck in elevator," she quips at one point.
All were successfully able to ascend a ladder lowered down by firefighters from the hatch and hop out of the open doors on the floor above.
"I can't believe this," one of the the crew says as they all start making their journey up.
As Kendrick hops out, she tells the firefighters on site "I'm in love with every single one of you" before snapping a few photos with them, which she includes at the end of the footage.
Toronto Fire rescued actor Anna Kendrick from being stuck in an elevator at TIFF over the weekend. She posted a video to her Instagram account Sunday afternoon — hours before she was scheduled to walk the red carpet — showing her stuck in a crammed elevator.

She was fortunately able to make it to walk the carpet before the 9:30 p.m. showing at Roy Thompson Hall.
Alice, Darling, which centres on a woman in an abusive relationship, is actually a Canadian-American production that was filmed in Ontario's cottage country.
