Free outdoor movies are back in Toronto this summer

Film buffs in Toronto have something exciting to look forward to this summer.

Toronto Outdoor Picture Show (TOPS) returns to the city for three months, starting in June, giving you the opportunity to watch a variety of films outdoors under the stars, for free.

TOPS will be setting up in four public spaces: Fort York, Corktown
Common, Bell Manor Park, and Christie Pits Park. Programming will run from June 22 to August 27 with a total of 21 free public screenings.

This year's festival is titled, Another World, and will feature a curated mix of features from around the world while also spotlighting work by local filmmakers.

The season kicks off on June 22nd, with a 5-night opening run at Fort York National Historic Site.

The first screening of the summer will be Night Raiders, a film by TOPS' 2023 Spotlight Filmmaker, Danis Goulet

Goulet is an indigenous filmmaker who is based in Toronto and originally hails from Saskatchewan. Her work examines themes of settler colonialism, techonology and climate change with a focus on Indigenous knowldge and community bonds.

The opening weekend line-up also features a screening of Jurassic Park to commemorate the iconic film's 30th anniversary.

toronto outdoor picture show 2023Other blockbuster highlights of the festival include 2022's Academy Award winning sensation, Everything Everywhere All at Once, and Pan's Labyrinth by Mexican filmmaker, Guillermo del Toro.

While all screenings are free to attend, attendees are encouraged to make charitable donations to support the community festival.
