Canopy by Hilton Toronto Yorkville
The Canopy by Hilton Toronto Yorkville is one of Toronto's most anticipated hotel openings for 2023.
Located at 387 Bloor Street East, just east of the actual neighbourhood it brands itself as being in, the vibrant hotel is part of a global chain positioned as a 'boutique lifestyle' brand under the Hilton umbrella.
The hotel features include a cafe, a posh restaurant, an indoor heated pool, yoga, fitness rooms, and sleek meeting spaces.
As the first Canopy by Hilton in Canada, the hotel's interior designed by Toronto-based Studio Munge has an invigorating vibe, pulling in elements from Toronto's urban cityscape.
Curved edges and organic motifs are complemented with pops of colour and graffiti-inspired murals, with eye-catching architectural details and layered interiors everywhere you turn.
Canopy's 184 "Just-Right" guest rooms encompass the second to ninth floors of the building, with the remainder of the 55-storey structure accommodating residential units within the Gupta Group’s Rosedale on Bloor condos.
The rooms are thoughtfully designed without sacrificing comfort. Spacious layouts house king or queen beds with gel memory foam mattresses, large windows with blackout curtains, a lounge and work area, and a bright bathroom with Thank You by Hunter® eco-friendly bath products.
Lighting and curtains are all digitally controlled via wall panels placed throughout the room.
You'll also find an in-room Nespresso® coffee maker, refrigerated drawer, and cozy bathrobes for added comforts. A standard King bed room is not cheap and starts upwards of $382 per night, with rates varying based on dates and room type.
Commitment to sustainability and the environment is at the forefront for the brand. While you won't find plastic water bottles in your room, they provide a reusable glass you can fill with filtered water, as well as free Canopy bicycle rentals to explore the city.
On the second floor, you'll find the luxe hotel restaurant Día, serving up seasonal small plates, creative cocktails, and a curated wine list.
The restaurant has ample plush seating and tables, decorated in shades of emerald greens, gold, and greys, with floor to ceiling windows overlooking a bustling Bloor Street East and Rosedale Valley.
Striking design elements caught my eye, including ornate light fixtures and a triple-sided fireplace with curved edges warming up the space.
The eclectic lobby's informal and approachable desks reflect the hotel's relaxed tone. They also have a retail boutique stocked with locally sourced wares and souvenirs, including prints and artwork with Toronto-inspired motifs.
For those looking to stay fit during their stay, there is a wellness centre on the third floor with yoga and fitness rooms featuring state-of-the-art equipment.
The hotel even has Wellness Rooms you can upgrade to, which includes a Peloton bike, Therabody, yoga mat, weights, and resistance bands within your suite.
If you need a larger place to work, the hotel has over 3,451 square feet of glass-enclosed meeting space and collaborative work sections.
The hotel's arrival to the city brings a fresh offering to the neighbourhood, a short walk away from the posh boutiques and restaurants of Yorkville and the Mink Mile.
