NO AFFILIATION: THE MONTHLY MUSIC MAYHEM SERIES
This Wednesday October 12th at the Drake Hotel, No Affiliation: The Monthly Music Mayhem Series takes over with its musical relay race, featuring top Toronto musicians and songwriters, including Marco DiFelice, Corin Raymond, Greg Hobbs, Michael "Rosie" Rosenthal, Marty Stelnick, Geoff Marshall, Scott Good, Michael "Blitz" Kaler, The Ugly Bug Band, Hugh Oliver, DJ Shine and more.

It may be an oxymoron, but this is organized mayhem, consisting of one long set with the musicians bleeding into each other's sets, according to Marco DiFelice. There are no rehearsals, so set changes, no soundchecks. But it works. It's not the music that comes to be expected from these artists at their usual shows, so the results of this experiment are a surprise to both the audiences and the musicians. I've seen DiFelice do this on his own, with guitar, keys, and lots of on the spot looping and sampling, and I was fascinated by it, so I'm very curious to see how it works with other artists sharing the stage with him.

If you're looking for different, this is definitely it. Or if you're a fan of any of these musicians in their more well-known incarnations, this is a way to see what they can do when they move from the rehearsed to the spontaneous.
