Ladytron @ The Opera House

Last Thursday night electro-clash superstars Ladytron brought their synths and hard-driving dreamy sound to The Opera House.

Having never seen Ladytron, I had no idea what to expect. Considering their electronic style, I wouldn't have been surprised if the majority of the music had been recorded. I was pleasantly surprised to find the entire show was performed live, from the mind blowing endurance of the drummer, rhythmic baselines and countless keyboards and synthesizers.

Lead singer Helena Marnie was energetic on stage, in stark contrast to fellow vocalist and keyboardist Mira Aroyo who emanated a stern and focused presence. Few would be shocked to learn that the beautiful Mira is also a model, but I doubt many would guess her brilliance extends to a Ph. D in Genetics from Oxford University. Supposedly she is also capable of repairing her own synthesizers. Now that's what I call talent, but I digress.

The show was lively, the vocals were strong, the reproduction of their recorded sound was very impressive and the crowd went nuts dancing all night. Great show. If you missed them, keep an eye out for their return.
