Dancing On The Horseshoe Floor

New bands to the left, new bands to the right. Everyone! Pay attention!

A seasonably-warm evening on Thursday had everyone out 'n about, especially the locals on Queen and Spadina. Although the majority of these people were not enticed to see a decent rock show, the few who did were supporters of those who filled The Horseshoe Tavern with noise for only a mere couple of house.

Victoria B.C.'s own Immaculate Machine have been from here, to home, to the Central Europe, to here again, and through the U.S. very soon. To open their set, they invited The D'Urbervilles to ignitie some energy into the people. The four-piece power/dance-rock group hail from Guelph but are no strangers to Toronto. The band recently played a fairly-packed stint at The Silver Dollar for NxNE and have played many other shows within the downtown core. The D'Urbervilles spout a strong force which allows for constant hand-clapping, feet-moving and, at times, fist-pumping. If you ever decide to partake in a D'Urberville evening, don't be afraid to join in when lead singer John O'Regan jumps out to you and begins to dance, just for you.

Immaculate Machine took the stage shortly after the previous. A band of touring energy-driven musicians played their set to listeners who sung along to most of their songs, which was a delight to see. The band played a full set of material from their three records (2 LP's and 1 EP). At a point, the band asked for any kind of request. D'Urberville John O'Regan said jokingly, "they should play 'Good Virbations'". Since they had played that song before, the request was shouted out loudly and, to the band's promise of a request, they played it with sweet harmonies.
