ALL CAPS! presents The Craft Show
ALL CAPS!, Toronto's all-ages music series, threw a fun shindig for the artistically and musically-inclined at the Whipper Snapper Gallery involving craft tables and bands. Quite the mix, no? How about yes!
A plethora of local craft artists showcased their work to the viewing and purchasing public. The displays contained drawings, knick-knacks, jewelery and other interesting things you could put next to your bed to admire.
The music started off with Ohbijou. A packed art gallery to see Ohbijou? Sounds about right. With their recent acclaim, the band played their joyous comfort songs for the crew of all-agers. Winning new fans is what Ohbijou does best. That, and shout "Wolves!"
Following Ohbijou was local youngin' Carmen Elle. She began her set with a solo tune on her guitar which she credited as not sounding as good as it had looked. After the first song, she brought out her band to play a brand of upbeat and offbeat tunes. Having never heard of Elle, I took my time and was patient with what she was offering. Even though she said they (as a band) had barely practiced, they sounded fantastic and fairly solid.
Henri Faberge & The Adorables: what else is their to say? Hmm. Well, their set began with Andy Lloyd and Dana Snell singing a duet with no title that had me focused and dancing at the front with glee. It was a song I would have asked for them to play again as it seemed so enjoyable and one hell of a "let's sing it together" song. As the set continued, Henri would move and kick his mic-stand all over the place, trying to be at one with everyone. Funny gestures and pop-rock is what the Adorables are all about. And yes, they're a good band, as well.
ALL CAPS! are always putting on shows. Check out their website at http://www.allcaps.ca/.
