All Too Pretty

Friday night and I'm off to cover three separate events. First up, and a great way to start the nights musical events was Oh! The Pretty Things at the Horseshoe, part of the grand old bar's live music celebration.

Previously featured on blogTo's own Toronto Independent Podcast, the band has recently added a new member. So how did they do?

In a word: awesome.

Oh! The Pretty Things bring a unique blend of soulful blues rhythms and straight-up rock and roll that has you tapping your feet before the first song begins.

As per usual, the set began with all four members (Jeff, Sasha, Nevada and Dan) singing the refrain to my favorite song, Jet Plane. They then launched into their set, turning the volume up to 11 and quietly attracted some of the other bands out to see them play. Even Jon-Rae from Jon-Rae and the River was there taking in the band!

And with the addition of Dan Gordon, a gifted sing-songwriter, on bass; the band has really rounded out nicely. The combination of Jeff and Dan pulling singing duties is not to be missed.

The set ended with a bar-wide singing of happy birthday to Sasha, before presenting him with a guitar-shaped cake.

Oh! The Pretty Things will be playing in London at Call the Office on Thursday night. They are in the midst of revamping their website, and regularly play gigs all over the city. Toe-taping good times!
