Dub Collective Up In Friday's Mix

While the visiting groove emissaries (Souljazz Orchestra), inspired poetess-MC (Voice) and Brazilified live vocals/remix monkey (Bonjay, releasing a much-anticipated new disc tonight) make deciding between this weekend's club shows yet another tough choice, here's one more to consider.

Dub Collective, a new recurring event, aims to "fuse four individual styles" along the roots reggae, dub and mashups tip -- so here's your heads-up.

The hosts, familiar to T.O. dub fiends, are prominent among this music community's DJs, producers, musicians and radio personalities: Dubmatix, Aram Scaram, Nate Wize and Sassa'le. Promising a "heavy dancefloor", the new event's promoters say they'll feature a monthly guest performer doing original songs, along with, of course, the hosts and guest DJs "performing on 3 turntables accompanied by live mixing, FX and sound bytes." Tonight the lineup includes (you guessed it) dubside radioheads Version Xcursion, hosts Wize and Dubmatix and live singing by Henri and Ammoye.

Do you even have to guess where this is happening? (Well, don't, then.)

Dub Collective
