CMW: The Reason

My first foray into the cornucopia of live shows making up this year's CMW was London Ontario's The Reason. Celebrating the release of their new CD, the entire set list was new material from Things Couldn't be Better.

It was a perfect way to start the night.

The five man outfit were super excited to be opening in support of Mute Math at the Opera House, and it showed in the performance. The songs came off with a lot more conviction and energy that translates on the album. I must admit I wasn't feeling the album, but the live show more than made up for it.

But I suppose that happens when it takes a year and a half to write it.

In just a 30 minute set, they had the crowd down with the new tunes. Hands clapping, girls dancing. All that good stuff. The crowd chanting "one more song!" as they finished.

The boys head back to London for another CD Release show tonight, before heading off to Montreal with Mute Math and The Cinematics.
