Party, Party, Dance, Dance! Tokyo Drift Edition

"Breakvision", Japanese breakdancing video from Youtube (source)

While I haven't trained my windmill since, oh, ever, this looks exciting: the Street Dance Academy tonight offers the chance to check out their studio and break-happy instructors and to actively send off Shaw Fukaya, a talented dancer from their circle headed back to Japan. (And by the looks of the above video, he'll have plenty of breakers to join up with, if he isn't already hooked into that scene.)

In addition to the celebration of "everything Japanese" -- "costumes are encouraged -- the outrageous, the subtle, the traditional -- anything goes!" -- the night includes showcases, performances and b-girl and -boy battles from core members of the dance crew and a special house dance performance from Fukaya. All this uprockin' happens to the backbeat of classic hip-hop, funk, house and disco from Never Forgive Action mainstay DJs Dalia, Numeric, Ted Dancin' and More or Les, the foursome behind the already-popular monthly gathering Hip-Hop Karaoke Toronto (third installment goes down this Thursday).
