Red Bull Music Academy

Red Bull Music Academy 2008

Last Fall the Red Bull Music Academy invaded Toronto with a solid month of schooling and partying. Some of the most talented up-and-coming musicians and producers signed up for intensive workshops and lectures with the best in the industry.

This year the Red Bull Music Academy travels east to my favourite city - Barcelona - and the search for the best emerging music makers is ON!

The Red Bull Music Academy is a annual event. Each year, a different city plays host. Activities revolve around a temporary, state of the art facility complete with studios and lecture halls. Like-minded musicians and artists from all across the globe congregate to share their knowledge, experience and inspiration with some seriously world-class teachers.

Names like Mulatu, Bernard Purdie, Arthur Baker, DJ Premier, A-trak, Caribou, Architecture in Helsinki, Jazzy Jay, Tiga, Superpitcher and M.I.A, are only a few of the mentors previously made available to students of the Red Bull Music Academy.

This month, in effort to inspire Torontonians to make the trip to Spain, the organizers have put together a show at Wrongbar that will feature DIPLO! and Nasty Nav. Together, they will shake down the walls at this Parkdale bar in what is sure-to-be a crazy packed dance party.

How to apply? Go to Red Bull Music Academy and complete the form before May 5th 2008. And if you're serious about it, stop by the info session happening in Toronto before the show.
