RAMeN: Reel Asian Film Fest Rocks The Rivoli Friday

In addition to the amazing films being shown this week at the Reel Asian International Film Festival, the organizers are once again putting on RAMeN - their annual indie music showcase. I was at last year's event and had a blast. This year's installment takes place this Friday at the Rivoli and it features an exciting, eclectic line-up.

Headlining the show are blogTO's favourite electro punks OPOPO. If you haven't seen these guys yet, they're reason enough to be at the Rivoli this Friday. The original three members now have a masked drummer laying down some eerie dance grooves behind them on stage, officially making them one of our city's most energetic live acts. Their self-titled debut EP is also pretty slammin'.

Dynamic New York quartet Kite Operations are making the drive north to share their quiet-loud-quiet post rock with us. Their 2007 album Heart Attacks, Back to Back... was recorded at home and was very well-received across the blogosphere. This is a chance to catch an upcoming NYC band before they break.

Radius and Helena will get the night started with their trippy, psych-rock. The show will be hosted by eclectic Vancouver-based MC Masia One and will also include DJ Jaime Sin of local disco crew Seventh Heaven).

In a nutshell: this event has something for everybody. Don't miss it.
