Epic party coming to warehouse on Dupont
The old Hamilton Gears warehouse at 950 Dupont St. will soon become Bellwoods Brewery's second location. But not before SummerDaze hosts an epic party at this Toronto-area warehouse.
On Sunday, February 14, SummerDaze party planners Jordana Appugliesi, Nabil Zakaria and Sandra Dalla Giustina will transform the massive warehouse into a Valentine's Day love-fest featuring the California-based DJ crew Desert Hearts.
The event is a decade in the making, notes Appugliesi. She and Zakaria have been driving by the warehouse daily; they've dreamed about holding a party there. Though, they never thought it'd happen because it was always filled with boxes.
About one month ago, Appugliesi noticed it was empty and finally secured it for SummerDaze. "We've been manifesting an event at that venue for literally ten years and it's becoming a reality," says Zakaria.
Like all SummerDaze parties, Appugliesi, Zakaria and Dalla Giustina want this one to be an immersive experience with plenty of art, music and food.
Since it's Valentine's Day, they're hosting a six-course candle-lit dinner - suitable for both carnivores and vegans - before the party ($60 or $100 with wine pairings). Although this romantic-sounding meal isn't just for couples. Thankfully, everyone will sit together at one long communal table that'll be situated in the centre of the warehouse.
After supper, Desert Hearts and local DJ collective Dirty Decibels as well as Shea Marie and
Thomas Cardin will entertain the crowd along with circus performers, including aerialists and stilt walkers. Local artists will also be on site and partygoers can grab vegan-friendly snacks all night long.
For the past six years, the SummerDaze team has been hosting events on Sunday afternoons during the summer months. However, about two years ago, they started branching out due to demand.
Tickets for their Valentine's Day party are on sale now and run from $25 to $35. Or, you can try your luck and enter for a chance to win tickets here.
