1,000-Square-foot mural to be unveiled in Toronto's west end
A 1,000-square-foot mural will be unveiled by poet laureate Dionne Brand later this month adjacent to the Arts Etobicoke Gallery in the city's west end.
A specially commissioned poem based on Article 13 of the International Declaration of Human Rights has been painted on the mural, which will be revealed on October 19. Article 13 reads that, "Everyone has the right to freedom of movement and residence within the borders of each state." Maybe it should be unveiled at Queen and Spadina instead...?
The mural is part of an Amnesty International mural series called Project: Urban Canvas. Brand will host a "walking reading" of the poem along with David Miller after its unveiling at 2 p.m.
