This official selection from Hot Docs 2009 follows the world's largest supply of fresh water from Lake Superior to the Atlantic Ocean and speaks to the dangers of taking such a natural treasure for granted. Canada has the largest amount of fresh water per land area of any country on Earth, our lakes and rivers are among our most valuable natural resources. Some other valuable national resources: Sam Roberts and Gord Downie, both of whom contributed to this movie.

COMEDY | Stand-Up Showdown
There's just not enough pressure placed on stand-up comics these days. Sure they get up in front of a crowd of people and subject themselves to the possibility of crippling humiliation with every joke they tell, but where's the sense of degradation that only being judged in front of your peers can provide? Well, the Comedy Bar gave eight comics a topic to write jokes about one week ago, and tonight they're going to air out their new material in front of an audience and a judge for the first time. Could get messy.

MUSIC | Make Do and Mend @ the Boat
Hartford hardrockers Make Do and Mend hit the Boat tonight for what should be an explosive display of tight snare smashing and thrashing guitars. Local acts and punctuation enthusiasts !Attention! and Emergency! round out the bill. We're guessing it's going to be loud and exclamation-y.

LECTURE | Broken Bones, Unbroken Spirit
Flora Igoki Terah has been through a lot. While running for Kenyan parliament in 2007, she was attacked and tortured by three men. A year later her only son was murdered. In the face of this adversity Terah founded Terah Against Terror, an organization that campaigns against gender-based violence. Terah visits OISE tonight to tell her powerful story as part of the Centre for Women's Studies in Education's series on Women, Violence, and Resistance.

COMMUNITY| Strength in Numbers - The 400 ft Mural Launch
If you live in the West end of the city, you've probably seen it: a heavily trafficked, blind-cornered tangle of streets funneling cars downtown beneath a steep underpass. The hazardous Dundas-Dupont intersection has become known for cyclist casualties, and was desperately in need of renovation. Thankfully this year the city completed the first stage of a rails-to-trails project that converted old train tracks into a bike path leading downtown, and tonight the local community celebrates the so-called RailPath with music, snacks, and the unveiling of a 400-foot long commemorative mural.

LECTURE | Ignite Toronto
O'Reilly Media has been spreading good ideas since 1978, when it began publishing the work of "alpha geeks" who the company believes are creating our future. Aside from producing books, magazines, and research O'Reilly also spawned the Ignite lectures two years ago. The event has been held in dozens of cities all over the world and each staging follows the same format: every speaker has five minutes for their presentation accompanied by a slide show that changes slides every 15 seconds, lest we less-geeky types get bored. Tonights topics include Branding Ethics, Neighbourhood Diaries, and Conceptual Art.
