FUNDRAISER | Fête à la Tête
Muchmusic VJ Sarah Taylor was on assignment in Las Vegas three years ago when she slipped and hit her head in her hotel room, falling into a ten-day coma. Doctors warned she may never regain basic brain functions, but miraculously she recovered after undergoing two rounds of surgery. It's no wonder then that the head trauma unit at Sick Kids Hospital holds a special place in her heart, and she hosts her third fundraiser for the unit tonight at Ossington hotspot Jezebel. R&B singer Trish will perform, and DJ Loose Lips will be spinning the tunes.

THEATRE | The Turn of the Screw at Campbell House
I've always wondered what went on in Campbell House, that old building at the corner of Queen and University. Other than a sign outside saying it holds the not-so-illustrious title of the last brick home from the town of York, it doesn't seem to have much of a claim to fame. But it is certainly a perfect place to stage DVxT Theatre Company's site-specific production of The Turn of the Screw, Henry James' 19th century novella about two creepy little English kids and their sexually promiscuous nanny. Runs til November 7.

MUSIC | Free Cancer Bats Show at Sneaky Dee's
Besides AIDS Wolf, Toronto's Cancer Bats are probably the only terminal disease/fierce mammal-named band in the country. Have I missed any? Is Leukemia Bear a band yet? Syphilis Cougar? Not sure. The Cancer Bats have been making energetic punk rock for over five years now and have toured extensively across Canada and the US, gaining a well-deserved following in the process. They play a rare free show at Sneaky Dee's tonight with Fog of Leprosy and hardcore outfit Fortune Teller.

MUSIC | Ghost is Dancing at the Horseshoe
The Ghost is Dancing has one of the most engaging and high-energy live shows of any band in the city, and have spent the last couple of weeks taking it across the continent on a Canada-US tour. They're coming back to Toronto tonight, but the poor guys (and one gal) aren't even stopping! They've been on the road for ages and they're blowing right through town headed for Ottawa and Montreal for some shows on the weekend. The boisterous collective brings with it Finnish band and tourmates Rubik. Styrofoam Ones open.

ART/FUNDRAISER | Drawn to Develop
This art expo at the Fermenting Cellar in the Distillery is both a benefit and showcase for talented street youth. Kids living on the street in India, Kenya, Peru, Nepal and Sierra Leone were asked by Street Kids International to create art based on their life stories, and some of Canada's best photographic talent have interpreted their drawings to create a photographic exhibit. The cost of each ticket will put one child through the Street Kids International program.

FASHION | Mom Jeans!
This isn't exactly high fashion, but "Mom Jeans" beats haute couture any day of the week. The entire fashion show uses clothes borrowed from the models' moms, and the outcome will certainly be hilarious. Maybe some one will wear their slutty mom's 80s mini dress. Big stupid earrings are a shoo-in, as are ugly high-waisted stretchy jeans. Conceived by artist extra ordinaire Xenia Benivolski.
