Events on Toronto's Radar for TUESDAY OCTOBER 20, 2009... lovingly handpicked from blogTO's events calendar.

MUSIC | Echo and the Bunnymen at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre
Liverpudlians Echo and the Bunnymen are among an elite group of bands who have pushed their careers past the 30-year point. Their best work may well be behind them, but that's not a detriment at all in the case of this show. The band will be recreating their 1984 classic album Ocean Rain tonight with a live orchestra, a perfect compliment to the record's operatic melodies. Tickets still available as of last night.
Queen Elizabeth Theatre, 190 Princes Blvd., $65, 9 pm

THEATRE | Whiskey Bars
Kurt Weill is best-known by music theatre aficionados for writing the Three Penny Opera, but the German turned American died unappreciated and impoverished after a lifetime of fleeing Nazis, promoting democracy, and creating wonderful music. Actor Bremner Duthie tells the tale of the composer's last comeback in a one-man kabaret that uses Weill's songs. The show has been well-reviewed everywhere it's been played, and continues its run in Kensington Market tonight. Runs every Tuesday til Nov. 10.
Bread and Circus, 299 Augusta Ave., $10, 8 pm

AMATEUR LECTURE | The Awkward Show and Tell: Ex-Friends and Roommates
This open mic story-telling night gives you a chance to air your grievances about those most awkward relationships in your life. That friend you made one summer who promised you she'd "always keep in touch" but that now ignores you when you pass each other on the street. That roommate whose stuff you threw out the window that night when he wouldn't let you watch Gossip Girl even though it was totally your turn for the TV. Come share a story or just have a beer and bask in the pain of others.
Victory CafĂŠ, 581 Markham St., Free, 8:30 pm

PANEL DISCUSSION | Broken System
Localism is the buzzword of the young century, and this panel discussion examines how we can change our food distribution systems to focus on small producers while still ensuring we have enough food for everyone. Apparently it sucks to be a farmer in this country right now, whether you're raising pigs or growing grapes. Good to see some urbanites addressing this issue, as most of us don't consider much what goes on in that great expanse of what I assume is barren wasteland that separates Toronto from Montreal and Vancouver.
Hart House, 7 Hart House Circle, Free, 7 pm

GALLERY | IMMENSO at OCAD
The Ontario College of Art and Design throws three receptions tonight at their professional gallery. Fashion Forward will showcase new designs that tackle social needs in innovative ways as part of LG Fashion Week, while a separate ceremony will unveil the new archway of the gallery created by OCAD alumnus Gord Peteran. A third reception opens new work by a group of students just returned from Florence. Food, drinks, and talented good-looking people.
Great Hall and the Professional Gallery, 100 McCaul St., Level 2, Free, 8 pm
