Radar: Rouge, DJ Shadow, Meligrove Band, Grant Lawrence, Equus

FUNDRAISER I Rouge
The United Way has been helping our communities for generations. With the support of KPMG they are putting on a night of celebration and entertainment to inspire change within the next generation of Torontonians, in an effort to keep the momentum strong. Rouge, hosted by CP24's Melissa Grelo is an event designed for 20 and 30-something young professionals to put their vibrant heads together, support the United Way's work and have oodles of fun along the way.
One King West (1 King Street West) 8pm $40

MUSIC I Meligrove Band - Record Release Show for Shimmering Lights
Meligrove band, a four-piece indie rock band based out of our very own Toronto, will be celebrating the release of their latest full-length, Shimmering Lights tonight at The Great Hall. Their sound is big, with catchy hooks and burly guitars. These lads have been making rock music together for over a decade and if that isn't enough to give them the street cred they deserve, they are set to embark on their biggest tour yet. They'll do the North American circuit, hop the pond to take Europe by storm and finish with a little homegrown love.
The Great Hall (1087 Queen Street West) 8pm $10 advance, $12 at the door

BOOKS I Grant Lawrence's Adventure in Solitude Book Launch Party
One of the CBC's most adored personalities, Grant Lawrence, spent a significant period of time in Desolation Sound, part of the wild West Coast of British Columbia. Not only did he survive to tell the tale, he wrote a book to share his adventures with his friends, fans and all of us less courageous folk. Tonight he shares his stories firsthand, with a little reading and conversation at The Drake Underground. Leave it up to this CBC Radio 3 podcaster to include some above average musical talent at his book launch. Brother-sister duo Matthew Barber and Jill Barber will be performing.
The Drake Underground (1150 Queen Street West) 7:30pm, Free

MUSIC I DJ Shadow - Live from the Shadowsphere @ The Phoenix
A treat for your ears and your eyes, DJ Shadow's most buzzed about tour, Live from the Shadowsphere is overtaking The Phoenix Concert Hall tonight. This producer slash DJ slash songwriter will be transforming one of Toronto's iconic stages into a 3D light show extraordinaire, something that would most likely be a standard fixture in outer space. DJ Shadow hasn't put out a new album since /The Outsider/in 2006 so his aficionados are anticipating him performing a couple tracks off his newest album, set to drop early next year.
The Phoenix Concert Hall (410 Sherbourne Street) 7pm $29.50

THEATRE I Equus
Toronto is excited to have the long-awaited revival of Tony Award winning Peter Shaffer's Equus return to the stage. A provocative tale of a psychiatrist's journey to cure a young man's mystery, Equus will rope you in with its disturbing yet inspirational plot line. Only running from tonight until November 27, grab your tickets now to witness the resurgence of this theatre masterpiece.
The Hart House Theatre (7 Hart House Circle) 8pm, $25, $15 Seniors & Students
