Weekend Events in Toronto: July 26-28, 2013
Weekend events in Toronto is our guide to events happening this Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Here's what's happening in Toronto this July 26-28, 2013.
BEER
Beer Fest
It's Beer Fest weekend and if you should be so inclined to hang out with the drunk and sloppies, Bandshell Park is where you want to be. Beer pavilions are (clearly) the big attraction here but there is also a full schedule of musical performances happening throughout the weekend. If you haven't purchased tickets yet, you're not entirely out of luck--while Friday and Saturday are sold out, Sunday still has the cheapest tickets available. Enjoy and have mercy on those of us who will be sharing a streetcar with you on the way home.
Bandshell Park, Exhibition Place (210 Princes' Boulevard), July 26-28, 2013, 4:30PM $39.50
Kensington Market Backyard Beer Garden
Pedestrian Sunday is here and if you're looking for a good spot to drink, 214 Augusta will be hosting a backyard beer garden. The recently renovated outdoor space behind El Gordo and the Latin food court will transform into an open-air patio this Sunday, serving brew by Kensington Brewing Company and food by Pancho's Bakery, Don Taco, Gordo Empanadas, Lightweight Mini Donuts and Churrasco Sandwiches. A BBQ pit will be churning parrillada and Callan Furlong and the Old Fashioned Trash will perform. Everyone is welcomed on this free patio but food and drink are cash only.

FOOD
Roncy Romp
Roncesvalles is the latest of burgeoning food hubs in the city and to emphasize this point, a clever little group known as Savour Toronto has joined forces with the foodies of the formerly Polish 'hood to create the Roncy Romp. A 4-hour food tour of Roncesvalles best food joints--both old and new--Roncy Romp begins at 2201 Dundas West and heads south on Roncesvalles. Six tastings at various establishments are a part of the registration price but the guide will also discuss the neighbourhood's history, culture and architecture in addition to the gastronomical tour. Block Party BBQ & Market
The Commonwealth Collective has long been a staple in the independent creative communities of Toronto, bringing folks in small press and indie print together for events. This Saturday, Commonwealth gathers those communities again for a small celebration at N/A Collective Space on Dundas West, where the arts will be honoured and food will be served. This block party BBQ will have food and brews available along with a small market where eight local vendors will sell their DIY press creations. Swing by to eat and check out photo zines, graffiti publications and custom merch by Blood of the Young Zine, No Fun Press, Block By Block, Readers and Writers, Joe Huffers, SCREVVFACE, Go Home Print and Doubledot Magazine.

MARKET
The Bazaar of the Bizarre: Sunburn 2013

Opening at 918 Bathurst on Saturday, The Bazaar of the Bizarre features 20 independent artisans and crafters selling some normal and some abnormal things, ranging from jewelry to dolls. Music and entertainment will be a part of this one-day market but get there early before all the weirdly wonderful items disappear.

Outdoor films are always the best on summer nights and this weekend, the Christie Pits Film Festival delivers with a great film. The Hidden Film Festivals
Taking place in London, Dublin, Paris and Toronto, The Hidden Film Festival lands at The Winchester this weekend. The films are kept secret until they screen. If you're a cinephile and can take the risk on $10, check out the weekend schedule and purchase tickets at hiddenfilmfestivals.com.

ART
The Noise Project
Far from an assault on your ears, The Noise Project is a tolerable noisy experiment. Described as "messy, exploratory, active, urban, experiential", this exhibition features noise-inspired installations, performances and artworks that range from interactive to sculpture. Featuring the noisy ideas of 25 artists from four collectives, the concept of noise from a citizen's perspective will be examined in this project. Can't handle the noise? Skip ahead to the neighbourhood sound walks and audio treasure hunt so you won't leave 99 Sudbury with a headache.
