ART
David Bowie Is Here Official Opening Party
David Bowie is has opened to the public (check out our photo gallery of the exhibit here) and the AGO invites you to dance to "Modern Love" like you're Frances Ha or something. Ringing in the new exhibit with one of their infamous gallery parties, the AGO will be open after hours for a dance party that allows you to walk the exhibit with drink in hand. See some of the 300 objects, videos and costumes from Bowie's personal collection and listen to DJ sets by Luis Jacob and Odessa Palmer. Tickets are on the pricey side considering it's a cash bar but this is where all your friends will be on Friday night so live lavish or die of FOMO.

BEER
Toronto Oktoberfest
It's not quite October but Toronto finally has its own Oktoberfest, which is a GREAT warm-up to the real deal. Inspired by the Munich festival that is over two centuries old, this beer-drinking Bavarian fest is a merry time mainly because the whole point is to chug the best German beers until you're properly drunk. Brass bands and pretzels and your opa in lederhosen--it will all be there with the best in European beers and traditional German fare. Ticket prices vary on the time you enter. For those not into hanging at the Kool Haus, there are other upcoming Oktoberfest events for you.
Kool Haus (132 Queens Quay East), September 27-28, 2013, 6:30PM $20-$25
FOOD

TUM's old friends and alum will be in attendance, serving the beer and food that has made the market a success and spawned some of the best new restaurants in the city. If you love food, come eat. If you love participating in the success of small, local businesses, come celebrate. Not familiar with TUM? Catch up with what you've been missing via our TUM photo stream.

MUSIC
Iron & Wine
Iron & Wine is the stage name of Samuel Beam, a South Carolina singer-songwriter who plays five instruments and has released five studio albums. Iron & Wine brings his folk indie sound to Sound Academy this Saturday night with opening duo Widowspeak. If you like the sound of pre-70s folk, Beam's music will appeal to you as he captures an older sound in his music that other young musicians can only wish for. Austra
Toronto synthpop trio Austra first appeared on our radar with the release of their Polaris Prize nominated 2011 album Feel It Break and have been increasing in popularity since the release of their second album, 2013's Olympia. To reflect this, they take a step up to a mid-sized venue, playing The Phoenix this Friday night. The band, fronted by the darling Katie Stelmanis, will play music from their two albums to end off their 18-city summer tour with DIANA. Tickets are available through Ticketmaster.

COMMUNITY
Homegrown Park Crawl
A park crawl hosted by the David Suzuki Foundation that includes drinks and food by local restaurateurs sounds like an excellent Sunday in the park to us. Homegrown Park Cruel is a daytime pub crawl with less pub, more grass, whereby participants will meet at Christie Pits Park and travel from green space to green space throughout the day, ultimately ending at Trinity Bellwoods. Each park will have eco-activities and entertainers (like Lemon Bucket Orkestra and Choir!Choir!Choir! to name a few) who will lead the group onward. Food and drink are available for purchase from spots like Pizzeria Libretto, Mildred's Temple Kitchen, Woodlot and The County General with all proceeds going to David Suzuki Foundation's Homegrown National Park Project. Whether you walk or bike it, get outside and join the crawl.
Various parks, September 29, 2013, 11AM $20
